Swale Borough Council is the local Planning Authority and they have full powers when considering planning applications.

Dunkirk Parish Council is consulted on all applications falling within the Parish boundary. These are considered at the Planning Committee Meetings which are usually held on the first Monday of the Month and at the Full Council Meetings usually on the third Monday of the Month with the exception of Bank Holiday Mondays. This committee can inspect all sites and scrutinises the plans for every application. Its comments are then passed to the Swale Borough Council planning department for their deliberations. They may take views of the Parish Council on board or disregard as they see fit. Members of the public are entitled to attend our Planning Meetings and the Chairman will normally allow them to speak.

For residents, who are considering making a planning application, you must be aware of the Conservation Area as this imposes further restrictions should your property be located within it. There are also a large number of trees with TPOs (Tree Preservation Orders) and you should check with Swale Borough Council before you carry out any work on a tree within the Parish.

See the main Planning page of Swale Borough Council for latest applications and decisions on an application.
